Au début des années 60 me vint l'idée de développer une sorte de
matrices qui devaient contenir l'information de base nécessaire
pour en dériver des compositions musicales à mon go-t. C'est
ainsi qu'en 1964 je composai ma musiqü électroniqü ECLIPSES
qui, plus tard en 1969/70 devrait me servir de modèle pour ma
musiqü pour l'EXPO universelle à Osaka au Japon. ECLIPSES
terminé j'étais assez curieux de savoir si le même procédé
pouvait s'appliqür aussi aisément à la musiqü instrumentale.
Encouragé par le succès qu'avait remporté la première de mon
Concerto au Festival de Lucerne j'entrepris la composition d'une
série de pièces de musiqü de chambre, parmi lesqülles MYSTIC
PUZZLE I, commandée par et dediée à Antoinette Vischer.
Roulette, les quatre solitudes und Mystic Puzzle I gehören ihrer
Natur nach zusammen.

MYSTIC PUZZLE I,1964:
Spielregeln:
Reihe. Vervielfaltigt durch simultane Projektion mit Trans-
positionen und Zeitmultiplikation in harmon.Verhältnissen.
Daraus entsteht Partitur-Raster. 4 Zyklen formen Raster für
4 cirkuläre Sätze.
Aufführungsweise:
Premeditierte Conception und Ausarbeitung. Klangmodifikation
des preparierten Pianos nicht aus Raster abgeleitet, sondern
nach Gesichtspunkten guter Klangfusion v.Cembalo u.Piano
gewählt.
Puzzle umgetauft in 'Mysterious puzzle' for harpsichord and
piano. 'Mysterious', weil das Wort 'Puzzle' allein suggerieren
könnte es handle sich um ein rein formalistisches Stück. Denn das
ist es ja nicht. 1.Satz übrigens unter Dach. Sehr gut gelungen!
Summer 2023 Archivation of Master Tapes
The tape archive of Werner Kaegis works is incorporated in the Sonology Archive in The Hague. The main works will be digitalized from the original master tapes. We hope that most of the electronic works will be published in the next years!! We are very happy that finally this wonderful material can be saved for the future.

Between 2020 and 2024 Heinerich Kaegi and Ludger Hurts developed a new Vosim programm VOSIM66 based on the original ideas of Werner Kaegis Vosim and Midim systems. This programm is created in GNU Octave and runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. See www.vosim.eu

Luuk Trip developed in 1999 a Vosim generator software VOS2WAV based on the original Vosim 7 vector. Meanwhile Luuk has adapted his VOS2WAV system for Windows 10. For more information, please mail us.
